Men think highly of those who rise rapidly in the world;
whereas nothing rises quicker than dust, straw, and feathers.

I used this quote from Lord Byron in an article I wrote for a football quarterly that I used to publish with some friends. It was at that time part of a treatise on the way that I would like to see my football club run and it remains relevant to that, but it also has meaning across all aspects of life. It’s worth looking past the waffle and fluff to the true character within.
